What You Need to Know!

Sand Volley Australia currently operates across one fantastic venue:

  Nedlands – 34 Verdun St, Nedlands

The venue are easily accessible, have plenty of parking, and create the perfect atmosphere for both social and competitive volleyball.

What We Offer

At Sand Volley Australia, you’ll find a range of formats to suit your style:

• 
  Pairs (2 vs 2)
• 
  Fours (4 vs 4)

Game times run at 6:20pm, 7:00pm, 7:40pm and 8:20pm (rotating each week so everyone gets a fair spread). Don’t worry if you can’t make every week — you’re welcome to have substitute players step in.

We also offer:

• 
  Private court hire
• 
  Functions and events for groups, schools, and corporate bookings

Grades & Competitions

Whether you’re brand new or a seasoned spiker, we’ve got a competition for you.Our comps cover everything from beginner-friendly divisions to highly competitive grades. Don’t worry if you can’t make every week — you’re welcome to have substitute players step in.

No mixed rule applies — you can register:

  All male teams
• 
  All female teams
• 
  Or mixed teams

We simply make sure you’re placed in the right grade for your skill level.

Costs

Here’s a breakdown of our team registration fees (per 11-week season):

• 
  Pairs Volleyball: $350 ($17.50 per person per game)

• 
  Fours Volleyball: $500 ($12.50 per person per game)
• 
  Fees cover your entire team for the full season.
• 
  We don’t accept week-to-week payments.
• 
  Fees must be paid 2 weeks before the season starts.

Scoring & Ladder System

Every match earns points toward your ladder position:

• 
  Win = 4 points
• 
  Draw = 2 points
• 
  Loss = 1 point
• 
  Forfeit = 0 points
• 
  No Call / No Show = -4 points

This keeps the competition fair and encourages teams to show up.If teams tie on points, rankings are decided by set percentage (sets won vs sets lost).

Match Format:

• 
  Regular nights: Games played to 21 points per set
• 
  If 1–1 after two sets, the deciding set is played live (team only needs to be 1 point ahead at full time).

Finals

• 
  After the 10-week regular season, the top 4 teams in each grade qualify.
• 
  Semi-finals: 1st vs 4th, 2nd vs 3rd
• 
  Winners advance to the Grand Final (same night).

Finals are untimed:

• 
  First to win 2 sets
• 
  Deciding 3rd set must be won by 2 clear points

Byes & “XXX” Games

Sometimes, a grade will have an odd number of teams. In this case, you’ll see an “XXX” listed as your opponent:

• 
  This means it’s your bye week
• 
  You’ll receive an automatic win
• 
  You can still come down and play a scratch match, or simply take the night off

Please let us know your preference in advance so we can schedule accordingly.

Forfeits

We understand life happens — but please remember your opposition is relying on a game too.

• 
  Notify us as early as possible if your team can’t make it
• 
  If you’re short players, still come down — we almost always have fill-ins available
• 
  This keeps the comp fair and fun for everyone
